Labour Day: Honouring the Hands that Build Our Future

Every year on the 1st May, we pause with deep gratitude to honour the true architects of progress — our labour force, whose hands, hearts, and hopes have shaped not only our economy, but the very foundation of a sustainable and developed Bangladesh. It’s not just about celebrating their hard work, but also empowering them to be aware of their rights.

From dawn to dusk, their resilience powers our nation-building. Their dedication drives the wheels of transformation — from scorching heated farmlands to bustling garment factories. Every seed sown, every structure raised, and every product made carries the imprint of human perseverance. This day not only aims to recognise workers’ hard work but also to educate and save them from being exploited.

Labour Day symbolizes a continuing journey for justice, dignity, and opportunity. It’s origin traced back to 1886, the Haymarket Affair in Chicago where a peaceful labour protest escalated into violent confrontation between workers and police, during a strike demanding an eight-hour workday. In 1889, an international federation of socialist groups and trade unions designated May 1st as Labour Day to honor this event. this day stands as a global tribute to workers’ rights and the spirit of solidarity. It reminds us that fair wages, safe working conditions, proper training and inclusive growth are not privileges, but essentials for a just society.

At Solar EPC Development Ltd., we believe that behind every green solution lies human ingenuity and creativity. In our mission for renewable energy, solar generated electricity, solar storage, and zero-emission mobility, we recognize that the true source of power is always the people. The labour force is not just our strength — it is our inspiration.

On this day, we extend our heartfelt tribute to the hardworking men and women of Bangladesh, whose silent strength fuels our nation’s aspirations. Let us continue to build a future where every worker is respected, protected, and empowered because when we uplift our workers, we uplift humanity.

And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!
